Problem
Production data (quantities, downtime, quality measurements) stayed in line systems and was keyed into the ERP manually and late, causing gaps in inventory and cost reports.
Approach
- Collect PLC / SCADA data in an integration layer
- Post production confirmations, goods movements and quality results to SAP S/4HANA automatically
- Securely segment IT and OT (operational technology) networks
- Monitoring and alerting for errors and mismatches
Outcome
Manual data entry largely disappeared, and inventory and production data became visible in the ERP without waiting for end of day.
